Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and
Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the
Regions of Quebec, announced that the firm Sysgaz Inc. has been granted
financial assistance.
The Government grant has been granted in the form of a
$174,690 repayable contribution through Canada Economic Development’s temporary
Initiative for The Strengthening of Quebec’s Forest Economies (TISQFE).
In 2009, Sysgaz Inc was founded. The firm produces biofuel
derived from organic residual materials. The firm specializes in
the management of biogas energy conversion projects and the supply of
integrated biofuel production systems for high energy-consuming companies in
Quebec.
The firm will use the government grant to evaluate the
quantity of reclaimable biogas from the Dolbeau-Mistassini landfill that could
be converted into biofuel.
“By lending financial support to Sysgaz, the Government
of Canada is demonstrating its firm commitment to promoting economic growth center,
in particular, on innovation,” said Minister Lebel.
It will be leading to the development of a new
renewable energy industry in the Maria-Chapdelaine Regional County Municipality
and the potential for diversifying and strengthen the local economy.
